Ryan & Kari: Rapid City Engagement Photographer

Say hello to Ryan and Kari from Massachusetts.

Kari emailed this spring about my summer availability, and I instantly fell in love with her. I knew right away that I wanted to shoot their wedding day, and after getting to spend a very early morning with them, I can hardly wait for September to arrive. I feel so lucky that they chose me.

Kari & Ryan, I’m laughing at the thought of your awkward-photo-outtakes-album that you wanted to bring me for reference, and am happy to report that I couldn’t seem to find any to add to your collection. :) Enjoy a few of my favorites!

Kari’s favorite thing about Ryan:
My favorite thing about Ryan? He’s such a good listener!! It’s one of the first things I learned about him and probably a major reason our relationship has been as successful as it has. If I’m having a crappy day, he knows just how to snap me out of it.

She knew she would marry him when…
A migraine hit during one of our early dates. Instead of being freaked out by my zombieness, he patiently took care of me for two days, anticipating my needs before I even had to articulate them. When I finally came out of it, he had the most amazing and restorative meal waiting for me. Patient? Intuitive? Caring? Sign me up!

Ryan’s favorite thing about Kari:
My favorite thing about Kari is her unfading beauty—physical and mental. I feel like I can be myself around her, but, there’s also an unexplainable drive to be the best man I can be. I represent her and she represents me. Finding someone who is beyond your wildest dreams will compel you to do things you never thought possible.

He knew he would marry her when…
The thought of marrying Kari crossed my mind the first night we sat across from each other talking alone. I still remember that evening in minute detail. I knew I’d marry her when everything I thought about her was true. Sometimes, you can only know that through living and working with someone every day.

I’m not sure what he said to her in these next two, but she couldn’t contain her laughter, which just happens to be one of my favorite things.

I love this next photo, because even though I’ve only met them once, I feel like it looks just like them.
