Eric & Ashley: Black Hills Wedding Photographer

Eric and Ashley, your wedding day was a bit chilly, a lot beautiful, and was an absolute honor to photograph. Thank you for asking me to be part of it, and for making me feel at home among you and your families.  Hoping married life is sweeter than ever. Enjoy a few of my favorites! —js

What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?

Ashley  Says: It is really hard to pick one, so I’ll try to limit it to three. Having breakfast and getting ready with my bridesmaids. They are amazing women and made me feel incredibly loved that morning. Also, I had a tremendous amount of butterflies leading up to the first look with Eric. I was so excited for that moment, and as soon as I saw him all I felt was joy and peace. And hugging my grandparents. I’m very lucky to have them all, and they have been a strong influence in my life.

Eric Says: Something I will never forget is a moment when I looked over at Ashley during the ceremony. She had this huge smile on her face and it gave me an overwhelming feeling of happiness.

Jessica’s Take: I loved that Eric & Ashley took a moment to hug their families after walking up the aisle and before the ceremony began.

What was your favorite detail of the wedding day?

Ashley Says: I think it is equal between our recessional song (Everlasting Light by The Black Keys) and our cake topper. I’m glad I put all that time and effort into it, so that our pets could have a “role” in the wedding, too.

Eric says: Having the option of dancing to the Beastie Boys or playing yard games.

Jessica’s Take: I loved their “time capsule”, containing a bottle of wine and letters from their parents and each other. They’ll open it on their tenth anniversary.

Any advice for other couples planning a wedding?
Ashley Says: – I think the best thing I did was to review all my vendor options online first, then sent an e-mail with all my questions to the few I was interested in. That saved so much time and allowed me to keep it objective.

Eric Says: – Keep it simple and don’t procrastinate. There were times we had to wait to do more planning because we didn’t put it off, which allowed us to spend a lot of time with our family and friends the week of the wedding.

What’s the best part of being married so far?
Together They Say: Planning our honeymoon and the next chapter in our life. And getting to say “husband” or “wife” instead of “fiancé/fiancée.” It seemed like an unnatural word to say.
